| Plate Count Agar Contact - RT is designed for the determination of the total aerobic bacteria on dry, sanitized surfaces and personnel in the non-critical area. Plate Count Agar plates are used for the enumeration of the total viable count. The pH in the range of 6.8-7.2 is optimum for the growth of bacteria. The media is relatively rich in its nutrients and does not contain any inhibitors or indicators. The enzymatic digest of casein serves as a nitrogen source with high levels of free amino acids followed by yeast extract, which is a rich source of vitamins. The carbon source for the growth of bacteria is served by glucose, thereby providing efficient growth of bacteria. |
